ANIMAL
INDUSTRY DAY - VIRGINIA TECH
|
"...easily the hit of the event." Andy Swiger, Dean
of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences
Dr. Charles Steger, the president of
Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University
in Blacksburg was present to honor the Animal
and Poultry Sciences faculty and the producers whom
they serve during Animal Industry Day 2000. Surely the
president of a modern land-grant college was anxious
to demonstrate his skill at the lines of a unicorn hitch,
so Tom and Bob, with Ben in the lead were happy to oblige
him.

Billy
Hite, Assistant Head Football Coach at Virginia Tech,
gave it the old college try, and seemed to enjoy himself!
Dr. Andy Swiger, Dean of the
College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, took a
turn at the lines, clearly demonstrating that he had
driven a big hitch before, and often. We were most impressed.
Andy knows a lot about draft horses. He's the man who
"made it happen" with the help of members of the
Virginia Draft Horse and Mule Association, and created
the
American Work Horse Museum in Lexington Virginia
at the Virginia
Horse Center.
